Trying to act creepy in “Hunted”

This short film was another entry for the Ottawa Filmmakers’ Weekly Film Challenge. The theme that week was “Animal” and my mind immediately thought of a scenario about an animal hunting its prey. Except that it wouldn’t involve animals – it would involve humans. I wanted to challenge myself and play a creepy “monster-like” character, so I tried embodying some type of predator and really had fun with the physicality. My fellow videographer/castmate is the organizer of the Weekly Film Challenge and I asked him if he would like to collaborate. I was so glad he came on board to help since I couldn’t have done it without him (and his camera)! We shot it in this really cool forest area in Ottawa that I had wanted to check out for many years. The really tall, thin trees gave off quite an eerie vibe which was perfect for the tone of my film.

Overall, it was a really fun experience and I’m glad the film turned out so well.
Fun fact – all the sounds used in the film came from other sources since the original audio wasn’t clear. It took a lot of time to edit but it was worth it.
