Jamie, Jessica & Jacklyn

These are three female characters I created for funny sketch videos for my YouTube channel.

I started developing these characters when I got three different wigs for my birthday. Being an actor doesn't allow me to change my hairstyle often, so I thought it would be fun to just buy some wigs for whenever I want to change my look. Then I thought, why not make videos with these wigs and create some characters all played by… ME? The characters started off as being exaggerated versions of myself and they each had qualities and skills that I wish I had. This inspired me to create Don’t Compare Yourself to Others. This video was made when I felt a bit down about myself and I wanted to make something that would not only help me, but also others who were struggling with feelings of not being good enough. I made each girl overly ambitious and talented in their own fields to the point that you just wanna smack them for whining and complaining about their lives. My aim was to highlight the notion that you don’t have to be as "this or that" as they are and that you are doing just fine going at your own pace. I had so much fun making this video that I decided to make more fun videos with these girls to further develop their personalities.

The next video I made was The Workout which was probably the most challenging to film and edit. I was still learning about the cloning technique and I gave myself the challenge of timing each frame perfectly. It was really tough and the end result is not perfect, but as long as people find it funny and relatable, then I'll claim that as a success. I have since continued making videos featuring the three girls and enjoy dreaming up new scenarios for them.

Fun fact, I chose these names because I've been mistakenly called "Jamie," "Jessica" and "Jacklyn" at some point in my life. And their last names are some of the ways people have mispronounced my own last name. It’s not “Massey,” nor “Mass,” nor “Mossay” - it’s Massé.

I have come to really love my ‘roommates’.
